The World of Forever Skies[]

The world of Forever Skies is set on Earth long after a global ecological disaster has left the planet largely uninhabitable to humans, leaving behind a several-hundred-meter layer of toxic and corrosive gasses on the planet's surface known as The Dust. This, among other things, resulted in the following:

  • The world being almost terraformed, leading to unique Biomes throughout the Dust.
  • Humanity building upwards, remnants of which you can find at various Locations with their Points of Interest and Objects.
  • A wildly unpredictable and volatile environment, which produces extreme Weather and other Hazards.

The Dust[]

The Dust is a several-hundred-meter layer of toxic and corrosive gasses covering Earth's surface, driving humanity to the brink of extinction. The Dust is classified as both a world Biome and a Hazard to the player.

Biome[]

Appearing as almost "sandy waves" covering the planet, the Dust can be found anywhere in the game world as an overarching biome that contains every other biome type, or location. The surface of the planet still exists, however, and can be found within the Underdust.

Hazard[]

After your airship descends below a registered altitude of 220 MaSL, all sections of your ship have a chance to take damage every second until you rise above the threshold. Presently, there does not seem to be a specific section of the ship that takes damage first, and it is instead completely random which section will take damage each second. In addition, the high-speed winds produced within the Dust layer are prone to fling Debris many meters higher than the layer itself, which can damage The Airship.

Biomes[]

Biomes are zones in the World with distinct visual and physical properties, as well as potential location spawns. There are currently 5 biome types to be found in the world.

City Biomes are easily detected by looking for their characteristic skyscrapers in the distance.

Mountain Biomes are the only biome that has a dedicated Location Radar icon, this biome can be seen farther away than any other. Mountains will typically span large stretches, and is nearly impossible to fly over with current altitude limitations. It is advised to fly around when the player encounters this zone.

Tall Vines are a bimoe easily recognized with its massive roots sticking out of The Dust. The roots are easily avoided, but can present a collision hazard for the player.
