Communications Hub

Database Entry[]

Towers used to maintain communication between distant points. they also helped airships navigate through space safely. A potential source of basic resources and device blueprints.

Communication Hub is the most complex variant of Radio Tower. Many sheds allowed for the storage of a large number of resources and often served the Airship as a cargo point.

Structure[]

Communication Hubs have several variations, but they do follow a general structure.

Landing Zone/Scaffolds[]

The main floor of the area also acts as the landing pad as well, featuring a long stretch of metal scaffolding. Usually about halfway through this stretch is the base of the location's Beacon Tower. Littered around here and in the rest of the possible areas, you can find piles of trash bags with Plastic Scrap nudged between them.

If this is your first visit to a Communication Hub, this area will feature wreckage you can scan to get the Hanging Cabinet research.

Tower[]

The Beacon Tower for the location can be access in several possible ways. Some locations will offer a single ladder that takes you up, some will instead offer a disjointed series of ladders, while others won't even offer a ladder and instead have a large root that curves up and around to the next floor. The methods to reach the upper floors of the tower may vary, but there will always be at least one method to do so.

Once you have reached the upper floor, you will always find one metal shed with Resources, along with the location's power box with a Solid State Battery.

Lower Scaffolds (Chance)[]

An extremely common variation of the Communication Hub includes a second floor down below the landing zone that can contain an extra metal shed or two.

Too Old

Under the new law, the older you are, the lower the housing you're entitled to. Because "the shortest life awaits you, anyway". I qualify for the lowest group, so for the time being I moved out here. I'm not going to die from smog just because someone decided I'm "too old". Twats. Almost as if they want to forcefully "volunteer us" to go beneath the smog.

Seclusion

We wanted to stay here for a while. Not to hear the neighbors in the other room. We live in quarters that are too cramped. Everyone has seen what post-smog diseases do to those who live too low for too long. Everyone is climbing up, no one wants to die. That's understandable. And absolutely infuriating.

Mailbox is a point of interest that can spawn at most Radio Tower locations, usually near the base of the location's Beacon Tower. This POI features a classic mailbox that is seemingly guaranteed to include a lore entry, even if you already have them all.

Sick Time

The last infirmary in the sector is officially closed. No one from the medical staff is alive anymore, and we sent the remaining staff to another sector. The facility's unit will be rebuilt to serve as a prison. Do not send any more sick people to us.

Residential Towers

Recently, two residential towers in our sector collapsed. In light of this sorrowful news, we are looking for volunteers willing to go under the smog to reinforce the foundations of the rest of the towers. If we don't do anything, we could end up just like them.

Nothing Personal

From the stories my grandparents tell, the world before smog sounds unrealistically beautiful. Perhaps it was too good for humanity and therefore had to come to an end? The current one is appropriately crappy and meaningless, which fits everyone I've dealt with. We got what we deserved. So no, I won't lend you my books. One, because it's basically meaningless. And two, figure it out by yourself.

Broken Radio

Do you have any working radios available for exchange? Our last receiver stopped working. We have a lot of handmade baskets or clothes from the bottom to offer.

Wordless

We didn't anticipate the scale of this regression. As long as most radios were somehow working, we thought we were still good. Now that the postal service has taken the lead in communications, we're left with nothing to do but admit that we're morons. Most of our contemporaries can't read. We became so focused on survival that we've again become animals.

Shrine (Shackles) is a point of interest that can spawn at most Radio Tower locations, usually near the base of the location's Beacon Tower. This POI features a shrine dedicated to an unknown entity. The shrine uses dead tree branches to imitate antlers around a centerpiece made out of a computer case. Hanging from the imitation antlers are a series of shackle-like objects.

Disappointed Goddess

...all of our efforts were in vain. The offerings were insufficient. The storms only confirm this. They call us thieves and idiots, but they just don't see the obvious truth. Poor souls. The insults of the disbelievers are nothing toe the wrath of the Goddess. We do this for their sake.

Shrine (TV) is a point of interest that can spawn at most Radio Tower locations, usually near the base of the location's Beacon Tower. This POI features a shrine dedicated to an unknown entity. The shrine uses planks of wood to make a pointed hut around a centerpiece made out of a television. The Incense Burner Set can be found here.

Two Voices

Some in the community indulge in theft. This is not acceptable. Although we understand the righteous flames that burn in their hearts and push them to these acts, stealing is wrong. It will make us more enemies and slow the growth of the community. We need unity. Only then, the Goddess will allow us to be part of the Family.
